Rebel Dread is a documentary about the iconic Don Letts, a pivotal figure in pop history. Letts fused Afro-Caribbean music with the burgeoning punk scene and directed over 300 music videos for artists like Public Image Ltd. and Bob Marley, as well as the reggae smash 'Pass The Dutchie' for Musical Youth. Beyond his enduring relationship with The Clash, the constant in Letts' eventful career as a DJ, manager, filmmaker, musician, and broadcaster has been his focus on cultural issues, a passion he continues to explore on his BBC 6 Music radio show, Culture Clash Radio. The charismatic and audacious Letts moved effortlessly between soul, reggae, and the raw guitar energy of the first punk bands. Inspired by the Jimmy Cliff film 'The Harder They Come', he began documenting his friends with a Super-8 camera, a passion that evolved into directing music videos and later, documentaries. His 1997 film 'Dancehall Queen' broke box-office records in his ancestral homeland of Jamaica.
