Set in 1984, Tjenare kungen is a coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of the Swedish punk scene. 19-year-old Abra is the only punk in a small town, who leaves her former life behind and moves to Gothenburg to fulfill her dream: forming her own punk band. Together with her new friend, Millan, they create the band God Save the King and decide to release their first single by Christmas. The film tells a story of friendship, self-realization, love, and the Swedish punk culture of the eighties, with plenty of music and an authentic period atmosphere.
