"Punk rock' is a word used by dilettantes and heartless manipulators about music that takes up the energies, the bodies, the hearts, the souls, the time and the minds of young men who give everything they have to it." - Iggy Pop -
A brutally honest documentary chronicling four decades of NOFX’s career, exploring the music, chaos, and contradictions behind one of punk rock’s most outspoken bands. Through firsthand accounts and unseen moments, the film reveals a story that is as reckless and funny as it is personal.

Late seventies, Poland. In a backwater town, Ustrzyki Dolne, a few teenagers form a punk rock band under the influence of the Sex Pistols. Nimrods: the first trailer for the Green Day-inspired film has arrived
The trailer for the Green Day-produced film Nimrods has been released. The film follows the adventurous cross-country journey of a young band.
The first trailer for the feature-length comedy Nimrods has been released. Produced by Green Day, the film will hit theaters on August 14, 2026, and tells the story of a young garage band trying with all their might to break out of the local scene.

The story centers on three high school friends who want to get serious opportunities with their own band. After successfully getting their demo to Green Day, an unexpected opportunity takes shape: they believe they have been invited to perform before Green Day in Los Angeles on New Year's Eve. The situation, which starts from a misunderstanding, turns into a chaotic cross-country road trip, during which numerous unexpected obstacles and adventures await them.

The film was written and directed by Lee Kirk. The cast includes Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman, Ryan Foust, and McKenna Grace, alongside Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Fred Armisen, Bobby Lee, and Sean Gunn. Members of Green Day - Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool - also appear in the production.
The film was originally known as New Years Rev, and it was presented under this name at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. Since then, the project changed its title and is now hitting theaters as Nimrods.

The story draws partial inspiration from Green Day's early years. Even before the breakthrough of Dookie, the band spent a long time touring and traveling in a van, and these experiences provided a foundation for the film's world. At the same time, Nimrods is not a biographical work, but a fictional comedy about youthful soul-searching and band dreams.

Based on the trailer, the film simultaneously builds on the atmosphere of classic road movies, elements of teen comedies, and well-known motifs of band stories. The focus is not on Green Day, but on those young people who want to get a chance at any cost to prove themselves as musicians.
