A documentary titled Another Kind Of Blues is being produced about the life of the UK Subs frontman and the band's multi-decade history.

A new documentary is being made about one of the most iconic figures of British punk rock, Charlie Harper, titled Another Kind Of Blues - The Story Of Charlie Harper And The UK Subs. The feature-length production follows Harper's journey from wartime London to the band's fifty years of continuous operation, alongside the history of the UK Subs.
The film focuses not only on the punk era but also on Harper's earlier years. It will cover the rock’n’roll influences of the 1950s and 1960s, his time spent on the streets of London's Soho, where he played alongside the likes of Rod Stewart and Donovan, and how he transitioned from pub rock to punk. The creators also delve into his admiration for the Rolling Stones and the period when he worked as a hairdresser for celebrities.
The central theme of the documentary will, of course, be the story of the UK Subs. The band was a defining player in the first wave of British punk and remains active to this day. The film presents the touring years, line-up changes, breakups and reunions, as well as major concerts and small club gigs alike.
According to the creators, the film will feature previously unseen archival footage, along with interviews with former and current band members, long-time fans, and close associates. Charlie Harper presents the important locations of Soho and the atmosphere of the era from his own perspective.
Another Kind Of Blues is expected to be released in the autumn of 2026. In connection with the film, limited edition DVD pre-orders and various supporter packages have been announced, including opportunities for supporters' names or photos to be included in the film's credits.
