A documentary has been made about the East Bay punk scene of the '80s and '90s. Release date: June 22, 2018.
A multitude of iconic musicians have come together to tell the story of the Bay Area punk scene's explosion in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s in the film "Turn It Around: The Story of East Bay Punk."
The film is narrated by Iggy Pop, while all three members of Green Day serve as executive producers.
“Turn It Around gave us the opportunity to tell the story of the East Bay punk rock scene, a scene that is sacred to me, Mike, and Tré, and to many others who were there at its inception and participated in shaping it,” said Billie Joe Armstrong, frontman of Green Day. “We are proud to show the world the story of this movement, and we hope the film will inspire others to create unique music and build an artistic community.”
The documentary features interviews with musicians such as the members of Green Day, Fat Mike from NOFX, Duff McKagan from Guns n' Roses, Tim Armstrong from Rancid, Matt Freeman, Lars Frederiksen, Kirk Hammett from Metallica, Noodles from The Offspring, Jello Biafra and East Bay Ray from The Dead Kennedys, Ian Mackaye from Fugazi, Kathleen Hanna from Bikini Kill, Brett Gurewitz and Jay Bentley from Bad Religion, Davey Havok from AFI, and many others.
