Manchester, 1976. After a life-changing Sex Pistols gig, Cambridge-educated TV reporter Tony Wilson decides to start a revolution. With his friends, he launches Factory Records, which becomes home to era-defining bands like Joy Division and the Happy Mondays. The film charts Wilson's dizzying journey from the label's rise and the opening of the legendary Haçienda club to the personal and professional crises that ultimately signaled the end of the Manchester music scene in the early '90s.
