Flanagan is the father of New York Hardcore, with a cult following since the '80s. However, this film is more than a musical portrait: it's a harrowing chronicle of processing childhood neglect, drugs, violence, and post-traumatic stress. This is a story of survival, the struggle of a musical prodigy in the brutal world of rock 'n' roll in the violent Lower East Side of the '70s and '80s. While descending into the deepest circles of hell, he became a legend at iconic venues like CBGBs, first as the drummer for The Stimulators and later as the frontman for the Cro-Mags. The film also features friends and contemporaries like Flea, Henry Rollins, and the late Anthony Bourdain.
